L-R Harry Daniel, Dpt. Of Veterans Affairs, Dr. Maggie Freytes, Health Science Researcher, Skip Williams, Dpt. of Veterans Affairs, Sandra Benjamin SOS Program Coordinator. The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing their Post-Deployment Readjustment Guide for the US Virgin Islands Veterans and Their Families. Dr. Maggie Freytes Health Science Researcher, stresses that guides are not only for veterans but for families and friends of veterans who all have a different experience in their coming back together. The guides contains fact sheets that address the individual needs of each community. Many issues that veterans and family members and friends are dealing with are normal coping mechanisms that become exacerbated when gone unattended. Believing that resources and support for Veterans are limited and harder to access means that many issues are left unchecked and may escalate. Each guide also contains a pre-stamped self-addressed survey card that they are asked to return to get the feedback needed to continue these efforts. ..Presentations are being held at the armories in St. Thomas and St. Croix. Guides will be handed out at the Myron Danielson American Legion Hall and at the .Legislative Hall in Cruz Bay ..For more information please contact the Dpt. of Veterans Affairs 774-6100..© Aisha-Zakiya Boyd
