A house on "Gamble Gade", which had been boarded up to prevent vagrants and squatters from breaking in, was revitalized by Savan resident artist Cleve "Grapo" Turnbull and local children who painted shingles and doors onto the wood to recreate the building as it would have looked in its original state. Houses typically found in the Savan area include vernacular buildings made out of lapboard that would house one or more families. The Virgin Islands Economic Development Association Enterprise & Commercial Zone Commission hosts a historical tour through the Savan (Savanne) neighborhood.
